ROSEN STATEMENT RESPONDING TO ALLEGATIONS SURROUNDING ATTORNEY GENERAL JEFF SESSIONS

March 2, 2017
Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) released the following statement today in response to reports that Attorney General Jeff Sessions made false statements about interactions with Russian officials during his confirmation hearings:

"Attorney General Jeff Sessions is just one month in on the job and his integrity is already being questioned including his ability to oversee any investigation concerning Russian interference,” said Congresswoman Jacky Rosen.

“He is the chief law enforcement officer for the United States. At the very least, he should recuse himself from overseeing any investigation concerning Russian interference. And if these allegations we have learned today are true, then the Attorney General should immediately resign.  I’ve said it before and I will say it again: we need an investigation to get to the bottom of these reports on campaign interference immediately. Whether it be by a bipartisan select committee or by an independent counsel, an investigation is by all means necessary for the American people to finally know the truth.”
