ROSEN CONDEMNS HOUSE GOP’S CONTINUED EFFORTS TO UNDERMINE NEVADANS’ HEALTH CARE

Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) denounced the House GOP’s most recent attack on the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies appropriations bill under consideration by the Appropriations Committee this week, House Republicans proposed defunding critical parts of the Affordable Care Act, including all funding for “navigators” who help people enroll in ACA plans and any appropriated funds that help implement the ACA.

“The Trump Administration’s persistent attempt to undermine our nation’s health care system is shameful and will hurt Nevada families,” said Rosen. “Republicans’ latest attack on funding for key components of the ACA will leave families without the assistance they often rely on to enroll in and afford health insurance on the state exchange. This petty move is just another political game that could leave thousands of Nevadans without the health coverage they need, and I will continue working with my colleagues to find solutions that lower costs and expand access to quality health care for Nevadans.”

BACKGROUND: Earlier this month, Rosen criticized the Trump Administration after the Department of Justice announced it will not defend a major part of the ACA that prevents insurance companies from denying coverage or charging more to cover pre-existing conditions. Approximately 1.2 million Nevadans have a pre-existing condition, according to the Center for American Progress.
