ROSEN STATEMENT ON MAY JOBS REPORT
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) released the following after the Department of Labor released its jobs report for May:
“Today’s disappointing job report is yet another indicator that the policies being offered by this administration are creating economic instability. The economy continues to add fewer and fewer jobs, which is just one more piece of evidence that we need smart solutions to tackle our economic challenges.
Instead of proposing policies that are forward-thinking, like long-term investments in programs that promote STEM education or shorter-term projects to rebuild our crumbling roads and bridges, we continue to see cuts to programs that will hurt Nevada’s economy and working families. Whether it's cuts to programs like BrandUSA which promote international tourism across Nevada, our number one economic driver, or threatening to collapse our health care system, this administration continues to walk away from solving our country’s biggest challenges at home and abroad, jeopardizing our economy and our national security.
If we are going to get serious about addressing a shrinking workforce, slow wage growth, and a decline in manufacturing, then we must invest in our workforce so that we can lead the world in building a 21st-century economy. I will continue working with my colleagues across the aisle to find common ground and push common-sense solutions that put Nevada families on the path to success. It’s about time this administration reconsiders its approach by doing the same.”
