Rosen Statement on NAFTA Renegotiation Notice

May 18, 2017
Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) released the following statement on the Trump administration’s formal NAFTA renegotiation notice:

“Today’s notice is incredibly vague. If the President’s plan is anything like the leaked NAFTA plan from a few months ago, which revised parts of the TPP, like corporate incentives to offshore jobs, then that would be a huge loss for the American worker.

Workers have long-deserved trade policies that help create good-paying jobs for families right here at home. The President finally has an opportunity to level the playing field by re-negotiating NAFTA. Despite lots of talk, we have yet to see the President deliver on his promises on bringing back jobs shipped overseas and implementing policies that put American workers first. I sincerely hope he will take action by working closely with Congress in a bipartisan manner to craft sensible, fair-trade policies that he’s long promised since the start of his campaign.”
