ROSEN STATEMENT ON TRUMP DOUBLING DOWN ON INITIAL EQUIVOCATING RESPONSE TO CHARLOTTESVILLE VIOLENCE

August 15, 2017
Press Release

LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) released the following statement in response to President Trump doubling down on his belief that “both sides” were to blame for the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville this past weekend:

“President Trump has continued to try to justify his failure to immediately condemn the white supremacists and neo-Nazis who terrorized Charlottesville and caused the tragic deaths of Heather Heyer and two brave police officers. President Trump’s false equivalency blaming “many sides” as the cause of this violence is disgraceful, fueling and empowering the hate groups who caused so much damage and heartbreak. The President's comments today are an abject failure of moral leadership, and they will further divide us as a nation. We must hold fast and remember to reject hate, even when the President of the United States fails to do so.”
