Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) released the following statement in response to the U.S. strike against the Syrian regime:

"For years, the world has borne witness to the destruction and devastation of the Syrian people at the hand of Bashar al-Assad. Assad’s criminal actions have resulted in a catastrophic loss of life and irreversible damage to the region.  Last night, President Trump acted unilaterally in a targeted response toward the Assad regime’s brutal and horrific chemical attacks, striking the air base that launched those attacks,” said Congresswoman Jacky Rosen.

“Any and all actions by the President following tonight’s military response must be done in consultation with Congress.  I believe that it is necessary for Congress to pass a new Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) for any further military action targeting the Assad regime.  As Representatives, it is our duty to oversee the safety and security of our men and women in uniform, and of our citizens.  The President owes the American people a clear strategy and answers on how our country will move forward.  I stand ready to work with the White House, and our civilian, military, and intelligence leadership to develop that strategy.  I also believe, very strongly, that the administration must work with our allies internationally in a coordinated effort to strategically resolve this humanitarian crisis.”
