ROSEN STATEMENT ON VIOLENCE IN CHARLOTTESVILLE

August 13, 2017
Press Release

LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) released the following statement in response to violence that took place over the weekend in Charlottesville, VA:

“This weekend, we witnessed a barrage of hate as a gathering of white supremacists descended onto Charlottesville, forcing us to confront the ugly persistence of racism, anti-Semitism, and xenophobia in our country. I am outraged, appalled, and heartbroken by the despicable violence that left three dead and dozens of others injured.”

“What happened in Charlottesville was an act of domestic terrorism. The fact President Trump failed to explicitly condemn the white supremacist ideology behind this evil act is nothing short of shameful. Our nation needed moral clarity yesterday, but instead received false equivalency from the President that only emboldens this abhorrent behavior. As we come together to mourn the loss of life, let us remember that hate and division do not and will not define us.”
